9 vols, 8vo., various coloured cloth with contrasting painted labels lettered in gilt to both upper boards and spine; date to foot; upper edges stained in the matching colours; with decorative headbands; all in the pictorial dustwrappers (all bar one, 1952, unclipped) with illustrations, many by Osbert Lancaster; very good examples, with some pencil markings and previous owner’s inscriptions to ffeps; some darkening, offsetting, and spotting, mostly affecting the edges and prelims; internally for the most part clean; wrappers toned, nicked, and chipped, particularly to spine ends; with a little loss, sporadically spotted and with some closed tears; Times Bookshop stamp to rear paste-down of Vol II; Vol VIII with some water staining to the outer edges of boards; a lovely run.
